Autumn Style- What to wear for an Autumn Wedding

Here in the UK we take a lot of inspiration from American traditions- Prom, Halloween and this year in particular we are feeling those ‘Fall’ vibes as we step out of summer and into Autumn. The leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping and now it’s just as popular to get married in Autumn and Winter as the more traditionally popular summer months.

So what does a bride wear for an autumn wedding? In this blog we explore the autumn style looks which are trending right no, and give some inspirational looks that are just perfect for this time of year. SEASONAL COLOURS

Step aside summer pastels and pretty delicate florals, for Autumn we just love bold prints, embroideries and dark seasonal shades such as burgundy, berry, terracotta and golds, dark greens and purples. These colours across your bridal party will all complement each other and will give off subtle winter vibes with a vibrant splash of colour as we come out of summer.

Silky satins, and Mikado fabrics with structure replace the soft, light and floaty fabrics you may possibly choose for a summer wedding, and now with the hot trend of a non-traditional wedding gown, maybe even consider a dress with an oyster or soft gold base.

Many brides are now opting to mix up their bridesmaids and choosing colour palettes for the bridesmaid dresses instead of sticking to the same colour and style for each person. We all know we suit different styles and colours depending on hair and skin colour, shape and size, so choosing different looks and different colours really works, especially at this time of year- just like the ever-changing colours of the leaves of Autumn.

DRESS STYLE

As the temperatures drop slightly, you might be mindful that a dress or an outfit with sleeves may be preferable. Even choosing a jumpsuit over a dress has been known and is a growing trend for both brides and wedding guests.

A lot of the gowns in our exclusive dress collection have detachable sleeves or cape options, which work so well at this transitional time of year, giving you the flexibility to wear your dress with or without.

Still not quite into winter temperatures, the soft tulle and chiffon pieces are just enough coverage to take away the chill in the air offering a lighter autumn option to the faux fur or feather wraps for those winter wonderland weddings.

One of the dresses which is perfect for an Autumn wedding is ‘Grace’ in nude stain with lace overlay. This stunning soft blush gown has detachable options to keep changing your bridal look throughout the day. The sumptuous Mikado shawl gives the effect of draped satin as it falls in folds around the arms in a Bardot style, with a matching statement detachable train. This dress screams drama and elegance!

BOLD PRINTS & EMBROIDERY

Bold prints and embroideries have been a huge debut across fashion and bridal catwalks this year, and our dress and accessory collections are no exception when showcasing key trends.

Two of our most popular veils are the brand new PBV9065 and PBV9066 which we launched this September at Bridal Week Harrogate. The soft ivory tulle veil compliments any wedding look, but the splashes of vibrant red, purple and orange floral embroidered florals make this the most perfect autumnal accessory. These veils are similar but create either a subtle or more dramatic statement- PBV9065 being the boldest of the two designs with a larger embroidery, with the smaller, more delicate floral design of PBV9066 perfect for a slightly softer translation of this stunning trend.

CAPES & SLEEVES

We’ve mentioned capes and sleeves and we have a vast array of both in our extensive accessory collections. The ones we love for this time of year are our PBC3002 pearl cape and PBA2019 cape sleeves. Whether it’s the creamy pearlescent colour, or the stunning pearl detail, these two detachable options compliment any gown as well giving just the right amount of coverage if temperatures are a little cooler.

FLOWERS & FLORAL ACCESSORIES

If you don’t want to experiment with bolder autumnal shades for your bridal look, and prefer to stick to traditional ivory, your flowers can be the easy solution to bringing an autumnal colour palette into your day. Autumn embraces natural beauty and your bouquet can do the same.

Mix rusty terracotta, oranges and yellow shades using flowers of the seasons such as roses, anemone, orchids and dahlias, and even foliage such as maple leaves, ivy, berries and pampas grass for a wonderfully textural autumn bouquet. Bring flowers into your hair too with a real flower crown or choose some of our beautiful new floral headbands and hair clips.
